CMDB Configuration Manager


Job description

You are responsible for the day-to-day facilitation of the configuration process, meaning that your priority is to control the data changes in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and to enable efficient resolution of integrity issues.

Your main tasks are:

  • Increasing the existing CMDB, both in terms of scope (expanding types of CI’s and assets) as well as data quality for the existing data
  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the process; ensuring operating procedures are documented to support the activities
  • Applying the configuration management process to specific CI Types (assignment of roles per CI types)
  • Supporting in creating and maintaining documentation and learning material for configuration management process users
  • Maintaining the Configuration Management System, including the CI data model and relationships in collaboration with CI data owners
  • Assigning approved change tasks to CMDB admins for execution. Preparing user stories for implementation of the changes & validation of the implementation.
  • Prioritizing, in consultation with organization stakeholders, of CMDB changes requested
  • Coordinating interfaces between configuration management and other processes
  • Ensuring that all operational services (and those being prepared) are recorded within the CMDB.
  • Ensuring that all information within the CMDB is accurate and up to date
  • Tracking compliance to the process
  • Validating and following up of outsourcing partner scope of CMDB data maintenance
  • Providing administrative and functional support in ServiceNow to users and process owners within the organization
  • Determining the impact of possible upgrades compared to the CMDB at Ypto
  • Investigating proactively how product upgrades can be beneficial to improving existing customer ServiceNow implementation

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent through experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience working as Configuration Manager
  • Proficient knowledge of:
    • Service management (ITIL (v3 & 4)) processes
    • ITSM & ITIL principles and their link with CMDB
    • ITSM processes as Service Catalog
    • Change/Incident/Problem Management, Asset Management, PPM, Discovery, Knowledge, etc.
  • Experience with ServiceNow CMDB is an asset 
  • Experience with offshore development teams is an asset
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Dutch, French and English, both orally and in writing
  • Able to work independently, strong problem solving techniques, proactive
